Employee Spotlight: Catherine Kaime

Catherine-Ed-Saints-game.jpgCatherine Kaime is the project manager for the Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases Research Center funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. She provides program support and administrative assistance for all the Center's investigators and its Director, Dr. John Hall, who "has been a great mentor to her through the years."

She enjoys the collaborative and effective efforts the Center brings and she has had the opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life.

Catherine "loves her job because everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission.  Every day is different and the variability of her job is what she looks forward to." Catherine contributes her outstanding skills and experience as different projects present unique challenges. With the diversity of work that she does, no day is like any other but Catherine handles each new challenge with calmness, grace, and a quiet confidence that reflects her mastery of people skills and well as the technical skills needed for her job.

For the 8 years that she has been in the department, Catherine indicates that she "has thoroughly enjoyed working with her colleagues. With the department’s friendly atmosphere and being supportive of her professional and personal life, it is easy for me to feel they are my family away from home." She has made great friendships and connections throughout her time at UMMC.

Catherine’s hobbies include traveling, swimming, hiking, gardening and reading thriller novels among several others. She is also a retired marathoner!

Catherine resides in Byram, MS with her fiancé Edmund and their two fur babies, Nola and Babygirl.
